When will my school be part of the online/electronic Student ID program?

We are planning to roll out the online application across all eligible institutions in several phases between September 2016 and September 2017.


What kind of discount do I get from having a GO Transit Student ID?

To receive the student discount on your PRESTO card, simply have your PRESTO card set with the student classification by the GO station attendant or at a GO ticket agency. The more you ride, the more you save! Please click here for details.


What is a QR code?

A QR code is a machine-readable code consisting of an array of black and white squares, typically used for storing URLs or other information for reading by a camera on a smartphone. The QR code on your GO Transit Student ID is used for GO Transit Safety Officers to conduct their fare inspection.


How do I know when my GO Transit Student ID expires?

In most cases, the GO Transit Student ID Card expires on October 31st, the following year. A reminder email will be sent to you when you card is about to expire.


What must I have with me while travelling on the GO Transit system, or during a fare inspection?

You must have your valid GO Transit Student ID card (either hard copy or on your smartphone) and your PRESTO card available.


I have accidentally deleted the email containing my GO Transit Student ID. Now what?

Contact studentid@gotransit.com or you may phone us at 416-869-3600 ext. 7272. We will reissue your GO Transit Student ID.


I didn’t get my confirmation email?

Please check your junk/spam folder. Make sure you add studentid@gotransit.com to your contact list in your email address book. If it still doesn’t work, please contact us.


I have submitted an application. When can I expect to receive my GO Transit Student ID?

Please be advised that your application must be reviewed by your academic institution before a decision is made. Once your school has reviewed your application, you will get an email sent to the address you provided.
