Ambient Air Monitoring and Reporting Plan
As a part of the Ministry of the Environment’s (MOE) Conditions of Approval
11-18, Metrolinx submitted the
Ambient Air Monitoring and Reporting Plan (AAMRP) to the MOE for review and approval. On
June 2, 2010, GO Transit received provincial approval of the plan.
As part of this plan, GO Transit has now installed all three Air Quality Monitoring (AQM) stations along the rail corridor. The three stations are located at:
- the site of the new Weston GO station parking lot (Weston Road south of Lawrence Avenue)
- the north side of Wallace Avenue near Dundas Street West
- the site between the Kitchener and Lakeshore corridors near the Strachan Avenue rail crossing
All three AQM stations are collecting data. As outlined in the plan, the data has been sent to the MOE for review prior to making it publicly available. The Ministry is auditing and reviewing the data. The data will be released as a quarterly report summarizing the data collected and identifying any exceedances over what we projected in our modelling. This report will be posted on our Website as soon as it is available.
The Plan, as well a table of comments received during the public review
period and Metrolinx responses, are available below.

Subsequent to the review and approval of the AAMRP, the MOE recommended removing acrolein from the reporting list due to uncertainties pertaining to sampling methodology. Based on this recommendation, acrolein will not be measured at Metrolinx Monitoring Stations. For more information on this, please click here.
