Environmental Monitoring
As part of the Georgetown South Project, GO Transit has committed to
monitoring closely the effects of construction of the project and reporting
these findings. As guided by three reports – the Ambient Air Monitoring and
Reporting Plan, the Human Health and Mitigation Plan, and the Noise and
Vibration report – we will be monitoring the levels of air quality, noise, and
vibration.
Air Quality Monitoring Station Installed
On December 28, 2010, the first of three Air Quality Monitoring (AQM)
stations was installed at the site of the new Weston GO station parking lot
(Weston Road south of Lawrence Avenue) and will be in operation before the end
of January. This AQM station will begin collecting data in the coming months.
The locations for the other two stations are:
- the north side of Wallace Avenue near Dundas Street West
- between the Kitchener and Lakeshore corridors near the Strachan Avenue
crossing
The AQM stations at these two locations will be installed in the coming
months once City property lease agreements have been finalized.
The first quarterly report – which will summarize the data collected, and
check for exceedances and discrepancies – will be available on our Website in
spring 2011.
