John Street Pedestrian Bridge
To keep John Street accessible to the pedestrians, a pedestrian bridge will
be built where the road crosses the GO Transit tracks.
A design competition will be held for the bridge. A Community Advisory
Committee has been formed and will provide feedback into the design of the
bridge.
Updates
- April 30 – Following a selection process that involved the Community Advisory Committee, a short list of four bridge design options was identified and the community was given an opportunity to provide feedback on the options during a consultation period from February 24th to March 31st. In total, we received 112 completed comment forms. The John Street Pedestrian Bridge Community Advisory Committee met on April 25 to review the public input and recommend a preferred option.
The winning design is the bicycle-inspired Twin Arch by DTAH. The next step will be to start the detailed design of the bridge with construction expected to begin in 2014.
