Weston Road Bridge

The Weston Road Bridge work will include replacing the existing structure to accommodate a total of 4 new tracks. Weston Road itself will be lowered between Oak Street and St. Phillips Road. The construction staging site for this project is located west of Weston Road, south of Oak Street on 2436 Weston Road.

Updates

  • April 30 – Construction work at the Weston Road Bridge has begun with Bell Canada relocating buried utilities below Weston Road. The City of Toronto is conducting tests of water mains and has completed water pipe relocations between Oak Street and St. Phillips Road on Weston Road. A new maintenance chamber is being constructed at the northeast corner of Weston Road and Oak Street. This work will be completed by late May. Night work took place on Weston Road from Monday, April 23 to Friday, April 27, from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. This work was concentrated north of the Weston Road Bridge and was in addition to regular working hours during the day. Lane restrictions will continue on Weston Road on either side of the bridge and will be in effect until 2014.
  • April 20 – Night work will be taking place from Monday, April 23 through to the morning of Saturday, April 28. Bell Canada will be relocating their lines between Oak Street and the Weston Road Bridge. You will hear intermittent noise through out the night including the following: excavation, digging of trenches and trucks backing up. The road will be swept when work is complete. A police officer will be on duty to direct traffic.

    • Bridge is currently in re-design stage
  • Weston Road itself will be widened and re-profiled
    • The road will be lowered by 0.300 metres
    • The slope will be changed between Oak Street and St. Phillips Road
  • Utility relocations will either be permanent or temporary and carried out in the duration of project
  • A new communications tower will be constructed, beginning July 2011, on the staging site

How this will affect you

  • Most of the work will be constructed from above; however, there will be some requirements for temporary lane restrictions and/or road closures
    • The community will be notified of these in advance
  • Construction will take place from Monday – Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Noise and Vibration
