Construction of Fare Card Infrastructure – Stage II at Union Station

Metrolinx is accepting Tenders for Construction of Stage II Presto Fare System Infrastructure at Union Station. Work includes but is not necessarily limited to electrical, mechanical and communications.

A Mandatory Site Meeting will be held at 9:30a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2009 at Union Station located at 140 Bay Street, Toronto, Ontario. Contractors to meet at GO Concourse in front of Customer Service. Failure of Contractor to be present and registered from the time the meeting is called to order until the meeting is adjourned will result in disqualification from bidding.

Contractors must wear hard hats, safety boots, safety vests and have safety glasses with them at the site meeting.  Failure to satisfy these requirements will result in exclusion from the site.

Tender documents are available weekdays from 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. from Metrolinx’s Procurement and Contract Services Office at the address below upon payment of a $40 non-refundable document charge by cash, credit/debit card or certified cheque, payable to Metrolinx.  Tender documents are provided only in hard copy format.  No electronic versions are available.  Tender documents must be picked up in person and shall only be issued to persons who provide all of the following: company name, address, telephone and fax numbers and contact name and who reference the above Tender number.  Call (416) 869-3600, ext. 5381 or e-mail dong.zhao@gotransit.com for inquiries.

Each Tender must be accompanied by a bid deposit in the amount of $10,000.00 in the form of a bid bond or certified cheque payable to Metrolinx.

Sealed Tenders will be accepted until 2:00p.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at the same Procurement and Contract Services Office, and will be opened immediately upon closing. Bid information read out at the public opening will be available on Metrolinx’s website www.gotransit.com after 2:30 p.m. the following business day.

Only Contractors who possess the following experience and qualifications will be considered for award of this Contract:

·          Satisfactorily completed in the sole opinion of Metrolinx, a contract for work similar in scope and nature as “the Work of this Contract”;

·         The physical and financial resources to sustain and complete the Work; and

·         A Contractor’s Occupational Health and Safety Plan and a program to implement the Occupational Health and Safety Plan that, in the sole opinion of Metrolinx, complies with all requirements of the “Act”.

Metrolinx reserves the right to reject any or all Tenders at its sole discretion.
