On December 16th, a snowy Sunday, City of Barrie residents, GO and City of Barrie staff, and representatives from the federal, provincial, and municipal governments joined together to celebrate the opening of the new Barrie South GO Station. GO Train service to and from Barrie South started on Monday, December 17.

Everyone enjoyed the celebration despite the storm.

GO Transit Managing Director and CEO Gary McNeil welcomed everyone to the new station.

City of Barrie Mayor Dave Aspden addressed the crowd.

Several hundred people came out on this snowy day to see the first GO Train in Barrie in 15 years.
