About GO Mobile
The GO Mobile application is a collaborative effort between Metrolinx and
Ryerson University. The unique initiative provides GO Transit passengers with
smart mobile technology while supporting local Ontario research and innovation,
particularly in the field of Intelligent Transport Systems.
Common questions
Where can I get the GO Mobile app?
You can download GO Mobile app from the Apple App Store, Android Market Place
and Blackberry Appworld.
Will this App cost me anything?
The app is free. There is no cost to download; however, you may incur data
charges from your service provider when using the App. Please contact your
service provider for further details on data charges.
Can all mobile phones access GO Mobile App?
Only iPhone, BlackBerry and Android devices with a compatible Operating
System(OS) and data plan can access the GO Mobile app. A list of supported
platforms are listed below.

What is included with the free app downloaded from the stores?
The GO Mobile application will allow users to:
- view schedules
- see Union departure information
- bookmark favourite schedules
- set arrival alerts
- enable text-to-speech functionality.
How will I receive updates with new features and content?
As new features are introduced, you will receive updates via respective App
stores.
I am having trouble with loading data on the app. Why is that?
In the GTHA, cell phone coverage is not guaranteed and can vary from location to
location between providers. Features of the app are only available in areas
where data connectivity is available. Please verify your connectivity status
with your service provider.
Is there a way to plan a trip through this App?
At this time we are only providing planned schedules of bus and trains,
as well as departure information for Union Station. To plan a trip, visit
gotransit.com/goapps to learn how to download the
Google Maps app and use the Transit Trip Planner.
Is this App available in French?
Yes it is. Please consult your device’s owner’s manual for information on how to
change your native language in your device settings to French.

Union Departures feature
Provides real-time Union Station platform departure information for GO Train
and Bus trips

How do I see departure information specific to my corridors?
Launch the Union Departures feature from application main screen and
select “Set Filter” for your corridor.

Can I be notified when a platform is announced for my departure?
Yes, simply launch the Union Departures feature from the main screen and
select “Set Alerts” for your specific corridor.

Are the times displayed on this Union Departures feature in real-time?
The times provided are accurate; however, there may be a small
delay in displaying the information. This delay should not impact your
ability to reach your platform well in advance of departure.
Please keep in mind that the GO concourse in Union Station is
underground and signal strength varies. This may impact your phone’s
ability to receive data of any kind.

Train Schedule feature

How do I view the schedule for my trip?
You can check your schedule in multiple ways for corridors and
destinations by selecting the Train Schedule feature from the main
screen.
- Search by choosing a Corridor and selecting specific stations
for your route or;
- Search by selecting “From” and “To”, and selecting on “View
Times” to see your schedule.

How do I save a schedule for my frequently used stations or
destinations?
After choosing your trip schedule, select the "Favourites" icon to save the trip information.
To view your saved schedule, select on the Favourites feature from
the main screen.

Can I be notified when I am approaching my destination?
Yes, the Arrival Alert feature allows you to receive audible
and pop-up message alerts for your trip. After choosing your trip
schedule, select on the Arrival Alert icon to create an arrival alert.
To view your preferred alerts, select on the Arrival Alerts feature from
the application the main screen.

What does this icon mean?

When I select “reverse trip” for my bus route it shows “trip
information is not available for time or stop requested. Please initiate
a new search.” what does this mean?
This can mean several things:
- The stop is not served in that direction of travel (example: one
way streets)
- There is no service for the stop at that time, or;
- The stop may have an alternate name in the opposite direction.
We are in the process of clarifying the error message for future
versions.

Favourites feature
Choose lines/routes to access the schedule(s) easily without having to re-enter your
selection every time

How many favourites trips/schedule I can save on the App?
There are currently no limits.

How do I delete my favourite trips/schedules?
For iPhone…
- Select the Favourites feature from main screen
- Select “Edit” and delete your saved favourite(s).
For Android…
- Select the Favourites feature from main screen
- Press and hold the favourite you wish to delete, a dialog will
be displayed prompting you to delete the favourite.
For BlackBerry…
- Select the Favourites feature from main screen
- Select the favourite you want to delete
- Select Delete Favourite from BlackBerry menu.

How do I delete an arrival alert?
For iPhone…
- Select the Arrival Alert feature from main screen
- Select “Edit” and delete the alert.
For Android…
- Select the Arrival Alerts feature from main screen
- Press and hold the alert you wish to delete, a dialog will be
displayed prompting you to delete.
For BlackBerry…
- Select the Arrival Alerts feature from main screen
- Select the alert you want to delete
- Select "Delete Alert" from BlackBerry menu.

I am having trouble with my alerts. My alert didn’t go off when it was
supposed to.
Please ensure that the GPS functionality of your device is
enabled, you may verify how to do this by referring to your device
manual or checking with your service provider. However, this can vary
according to location in the city, as well as location on board the
vehicle.
Alerts are provided for information purposes only.
Aboard trains, we do ensure that Customer Service Ambassadors announce
every stop well in advance.
If you are on a bus and are concerned about missing your stop, please
inform the bus driver of where you would like to disembark in order to
be absolutely certain of not missing your stop.

How do I report a problem or make a suggestion?
You can use the Feedback form directly from the app to provide comments and
suggestions. Your feedback will be sent to our customer care team, and we will
respond in a timely manner.
Accessibility features
Does GO Mobile have accessibility features?
All three platforms (BlackBerry, iPhone & Android) support arrival alerts and audible
notifications announcing departure platforms at Union. For preferred audible
departure notifications, enable sound alerts in the preferences/settings menu.
For arrival alerts, see the "How to's" category above and please refer to
Arrival Alerts.
Available on Android only, users can launch Union Station departure
notifications with a swipe gesture on the screen.

The preferences menu for each of the platforms are unique, but in
general, it will allow the user to set preferred departure settings,
displayed departure settings, activate accessibility features and
activate/deactivate sound features.
