Going to school

GO Transit makes it easy to get to school. Everything you need to learn about your commute to school is right here. New to GO? Start here.

Student fares & GO Student IDs

Discounted fares are available for most post-secondary students who use the PRESTO fare card.

PRESTO

PRESTO fare cards are re-loadable and easy to use. Pick up your PRESTO card from wherever you buy GO tickets and load it with a minimum of $10. Wait for 24 hours, then register it online at prestocard.ca. Give us another 24 hours to make sure we’ve received your info, then visit a GO station attendant and have your card set up for student fares. You must always travel with GO-approved student ID. For university and college students, the post-secondary student classification must be added to the PRESTO card each school year.

GO Student ID

To qualify for the student fare passengers must have GO-approved student ID. Check out the GO Student ID page to learn how to get your card.

Students in elementary, junior high and high school must carry their valid school ID in order to receive the GO student fare discount for PRESTO fares. Learn more at our GO Student ID page.
