CHANGES TO GO SERVICE STARTING SEPTEMBER 3

Starting September 3, GO Transit will introduce changes to a number of train and bus trips.

There will be more train service and time changes for some trips on the Milton line, more train service to Kitchener, Guelph and Acton, and changes to some trips on the Kitchener line. There will also be adjustments to some Lakeshore schedules for better reliability.

There will be new GO bus service to Brantford and to Cambridge, and more express GO bus service between Kitchener and Bramalea. There will also be changes to some bus services with changed routes or discontinued stops.

MILTON LINE

New and changing Milton line service:

  • One new morning trip will depart Milton GO Station at 5:59 a.m., make all stops to Union Station and arrive at 7:00 a.m.
  • One new afternoon trip will depart Union Station at 5:55 p.m., make all stops to Milton GO Station and arrive at 6:54 p.m.
  • With the addition of the new trains, and to ease crowding on existing trips and provide a more consistent schedule, there will be time changes to some trips:
    • The 6:34 a.m. trip from Milton will now depart at 6:44 and times will be later at all stops with arrival at Union now 7:45 a.m. instead of 7:35.
    • The 4:35 p.m. 4:50, 5:05, 5:20, and 6:20 p.m. trips will all depart Union five-minutes later with arrivals at all stops also 5-minutes later.
    • The 7:04 p.m. trip from Union will instead depart at 7:10 and arrivals at all stops to Milton will also be 6-minutes later.

With the addition of the new trains, we need to reallocate coaches from some Milton trains as below. There will still be sufficient seating available but you may need to board or exit the train from a different location on the platform.

  • On the Milton line, the 6:25 p.m. westbound trip from Union (former 6:20 p.m. trip) will have 10-coaches instead of 12.

GO buses will change to continue to provide a connection to the changing trains.

Local transit systems are expected to change their schedules to connect to the changing trains.

LAKESHORE LINES

Some weekday Lakeshore schedules will be adjusted for better reliability.

  • Since making changes to some Lakeshore trips in June, we’ve found that our schedules should show different arrival and departure times for a number of trips to better match the service we’re able to provide into and out of Union Station, which is undergoing construction work.
    • We know that having a reliable, predictable schedule is important to GO customers so they can plan and manage their busy day and meet their commitments — whether for work or play.
  • We continually monitor our service and make adjustments wherever possible to help ensure we provide the best possible experience for our customers.
    • We heard from some customers about crowding on trains or platforms and we’ve taken action to address this:
      • We’re fast-tracking the addition of coaches to some our busiest trains.
      • We’ve increased the number of Transit Safety Officers on train platforms and at stairwells during rush-hour periods and for major downtown events.

REDUCED GO BUS SERVICE

We are also reducing and adjusting select GO bus services to ensure we’re using our resources responsibly and focusing on services where they’re needed most.

We value all of our customers, and don’t make these decisions lightly – when we reduce or adjust bus services, it’s because:

  • The introduction of new GO train and bus trips compete with existing services.
  • There are similar local transit or GO services in place.
  • There is an opportunity to provide express travel options to improve travel times and service reliability.
  • Few customers are using the services.

Changes are as follows:

Route 19 (Oakville/North York):

Trips between Oakville and Square One will be discontinued. Options for customers:
