We use this space to give you basic information about reduced train speeds on GO lines caused by construction or track work.
This information is as current as possible.

Here is the information we have to report at
11:52, November 12, 2009:
ONGOING TRACK MAINTENANCE:
Regular track maintenance is necessary to keep our trains running safely
and on schedule. GO Transit works with the railways to do repair work
at various spots across the system. Replacing track ties, repairing
sections of track, and general maintenance are just a few
examples of the upkeep required to keep our trains running on time,
every time. While most of the work is done on the weekends and at
night, some trains may travel slower through certain areas.
If your train is moving slowly and you don’t see any work being
done on the tracks, it’s because the area around new track work must
settle before trains can resume their regular speeds. While these slower
speeds continue for a short while following any repairs, the overall
impact on our schedules is minimal.
TRACK WORK PROGRAMS:
LAKESHORE WEST: THIRD TRACK CONSTRUCTION PROJECT:
Effective May 2009 - Winter 2009
To allow for future GO Train service increases, we are building a new
third track on the main rail line between Port Credit GO Station in
Mississauga and Kerr St. in Oakville (just west of Oakville GO Station).
Additional track capacity will improve rush-hour service for Mississauga,
Oakville, and Burlington commuters. With more tracks to choose from,
there will be fewer conflicts with other train traffic, and even fewer
delays. Platforms at Port Credit, Clarkson, and Oakville GO Stations will
be also be improved and extended.
This work requires GO Trains to temporarily operate at reduced speeds
between Port Credit and Oakville, east of Exhibition GO and west of the
Union Station.
We appreciate your patience as we make these improvements and
apologize for the inconvenience as we work toward our long term plan
of improving your travel along the Lakeshore West line.
This project is expected to be completed summer of 2009. Please
visit our GO Transit Rail Improvement Program website for further details.
