- Is 4.8 km long
- Contains 40 km of track
- Is widest at the platforms (called the train shed), where there are 16 tracks
- Has 182 signals for the train engineers to follow
- Has 256 track switches that allow trains to change tracks as they move through the corridor
The Train Shed:
- Covers the central sections of the platforms that service Tracks 1 through 13
- Is 35,000 square metres in area
- Is one of only two remaining "Bush Train Sheds," named after the design patent holder Alexander Lincoln Bush
- Provides weather protection for passengers on the platforms while still allowing exhaust to vent
