What's Changing

Access to Platform 4 will be limited

There will be changes to how you access Platform 4 (south platform) at your station, while construction crews complete important work to reinstall asphalt on the north side of Platform 4.

Here’s what you need to know:

Thursday, November 24 until Monday, December 5:

  • Platform 4 will be closed starting from beyond the west tunnel all the way to the east end.
  • Access to Platform 4 from the station building tunnel (east tunnel) will be closed.
  • Access to the west tunnel on Platform 4 will remain available for you, and the west tunnel elevator connecting to Platform 4 will remain in-service.

Here's how Bramalea GO Station will look like during weekdays from Thursday, November 24 until Monday, December 5:

What's Next

The redesigned Steeles Avenue entrance is expected to open in the coming weeks. Once construction is complete, it will enhance safety and improve traffic flow at the station.

We're Making Progress

  • For more than four years, crews have been busy on improvements, including a new parking garage, enhanced accessibility and safety features to create a better customer experience – with more connections.
  • Major construction on the new GO station building, featuring a new tunnel connection and a new parking garage is complete and the new amenities are open for you to use.
  • The parking garage is one of the biggest on the entire Metrolinx network, with the capacity to accommodate 2,059 vehicles.
    • We’ve added more than 100 security cameras for your safety.
A car-counting system lets you know how many parking spaces are available at each of the six parking levels.
    • LED lights identify which parking spaces are available to use (green), which spaces are not available to use (red), and which spaces are designated for accessibility use (blue).
    • At night motion detection lights up the parking garage to save energy.
  • We’ve finished important upgrades on the south platform and island (north) platform. We have also completed minor repairs to the pavement on both platforms. Both platforms now have a snow-melt system that helps keep the platforms clear of snow and ice, overhead canopies, shelters to protect you from the weather, and tactile yellow safety tiles to remind you how far back to stand. Both platforms can now also accommodate 12-car trains.

How You Will Benefit

This transformation will make it easier to access your station and bring you more service. Here’s what we have planned:

  • A new station building linked to a parking garage, adding 2,059 spaces
  • A new passenger pick-up and drop-off area (Kiss & Ride)
  • Improved bus platforms for GO Transit and Brampton Transit, with a dedicated Züm bus loop
  • Covered bike parking
  • New retail space
  • Improved access to Bramalea Road
  • New accessible pedestrian tunnel at the west end of the station and a new accessible pedestrian tunnel linked to the new station building
  • Enhanced safety features including new emergency call systems and upgraded lighting
  • Platform improvements with a snow-melt system that will clear the platform of snow and ice, canopies to protect you from weather. The platforms will also be expanded to accommodate 12-car trains.
