Starting Monday, May 9, construction to repair platform curbs at your station will take place at the east end of platforms 1 and 2 to enhance and maintain safety and improve accessibility. This will mean some temporary changes to how you board your train. Here is what you need to know:

When travelling from Pickering GO:

  • Board your train at the west end of platforms 1 and 2. The east end of platforms 1 and 2 will be closed.
  • Look for signs to show you where to board your train and remember to spread out along the available space to help keep everyone safe.
  • Both tunnels, the pedestrian bridge and all stairs will remain open.
  • The accessible ramp will be available to those who need to board the accessible coach throughout the construction.
  • There will be approximately ten parking spaces closed in the west parking lot. We need this space for our construction equipment. There will still be plenty of parking spaces available.

When travelling from Union Station:

  • Please listen to announcements on your train as not all coaches will open at Pickering GO.
  • Check out the boarding guide below before your trip.
  • The accessible ramp will be available for those who need to disembark from the accessible coach throughout construction.

When work on the east end of platforms 1 and 2 is complete later this spring, we’ll switch to the west end of platforms 1 and 2. We will notify you in advance.

Please be careful around construction equipment and fenced off areas.

How You'll Benefit

GO Expansion will increase the frequency and number of GO trains across the rail network, reduce congestion and connect a growing region with fast, reliable transit options to get you where you need to go.

In this phase of the work, you’ll see improvements happening at various stations, including elevator upgrades, secured bike rooms, digital signage, new yellow platform-edge tile, and electrical room improvements.

As we embark on the largest transit expansion in Canadian history, we want to keep your travel on GO Transit as convenient and easy as possible.

These upgrades are work we are carrying out as part of GO Expansion, to enhance and maintain the safety and accessibility of our existing stations.

At your station this means you’ll benefit from:

  • Upgraded elevators will improve reliability and ensure everyone has consistent access to the platform.
  • Improved safety features.
  • New tactile yellow safety tiles at the edge of the platform to remind you how far back to stand. The best commute is always a safe one.
  • New digital signs that will display schedule information in the future.
