Union Station Bus Terminal

Construction Is Underway!

In June 2017, construction started on a new, larger GO Bus Terminal that will provide you with more efficient service and improved access to downtown amenities and transit.

What This Means For You

Construction fencing has been installed in front of the Bay Street entrance to Scotiabank Arena’s (formerly Air Canada Centre) East Galleria, south of the Bay West Teamway, partially blocking the entrance to the Galleria and reducing the width of the existing sidewalk. This work is related to the construction of a pedestrian bridge that will provide direct access to the GO Bus Terminal departures level from Union Station, a safe pedestrian route over Bay Street and connect the Bay East and Bay West Teamways.

Work in this area will continue until approximately mid-September. Please be cautious around work areas.

What’s Coming

The new terminal will be built at 81 Bay Street—an area south of the rail corridor that’s currently a parking lot—and is part of Ivanhoé Cambridge and Hines’ larger commercial development. This location provides better access to the Gardiner Expressway and Lake Shore Boulevard, making it easier for you to get to your destinations.

The new bus terminal will better connect you to GO Transit, the TTC, VIA Rail, UP Express, and the proposed future high-speed rail connection to destinations in southern Ontario.

GO Bus service will continue to run normally out of the current bus terminal until the new terminal is completed in 2020. We'll let you know of any changes to your commute well in advance.

This page will continually be updated with details about the new station, renderings, progress photos, and status updates. It’s just one of the ways we’re keeping you in the know about construction at Union Station.
