Toronto’s Harbourfront is a great place to spend some time this summer. The cool breeze from Lake Ontario helps to beat the heat on those sweltering days. Bring your beach blanket and find a spot on the sand at HTO Park or pack a picnic to enjoy on one of the grassy hills. If you’re seeking some culture in your summer plans, the Summer Music in the Garden series at the Toronto Music Garden lets you enjoy live music in the open air or check out the immersive installation, BREATHLESS, at The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery.

Travel by GO bus or train to Union Station and then connect to the TTC.

At the Niagara Parks Power Station, immerse yourself in the history of hydropower and prepare to be awed when it comes to life at night. All this and more can be a part of your staycation in Niagara Falls!

Enjoy the Barrie Waterfront

The beaches of Barrie are waiting for you! You don’t need a tropical vacation or your own cottage on a lake. Beautiful Kempenfelt Bay in Barrie has four beaches - choose one or try them all over the course of your weekend. Popular Centennial Beach has a playground, beach volleyball court, food concession stand, and lifeguard. Johnson’s Beach is a quieter place for sand and swimming with a lifeguard present. Minet’s Point Beach and Tyndale Beach are both unsupervised but have play structures for kids. When you tire of the beach, stroll through downtown Barrie where you’ll find unique shops, patio restaurants, and outdoor art installations.

Get There With GO: Take the Barrie line to Allandale Waterfront GO Station and then just cross over Lakeshore Dr. to the waterfront.
