Fare Discounts with PRESTO

Customer wearing face covering tapping PRESTO card on new fare device

We have exciting news! We’ve introduced more ways to pay on GO Transit. You can now tap a credit card on and off a PRESTO device to pay your GO adult fare. You can also tap your phone or watch if you have a credit card stored in your mobile wallet. Learn more about PRESTO contactless payment with credit on GO.

Each time you travel on GO, your fare is deducted from the form of payment you use, whether that is your PRESTO card, credit card or credit card on your phone or watch. If you travel frequently, you may be entitled to receive automatic fare discounts of 15% or more based upon the number of trips you take within a calendar month. To earn these discounts, you will need to tap and pay with the same form of payment for all your trips within an entire month. For example, switching between a PRESTO card and credit card can’t be combined to provide the loyalty discount. You can calculating your fare here.

Child Fare - Free!

Children 12 years and under can ride for free on all GO trains and buses. They do not need to use a PRESTO card or purchase a paper ticket to travel on GO Transit.

If a child transfers to another transit service provider, PRESTO or cash fare may be required.

We recommend children under 12 are accompanied by an adult when travelling on GO Transit. Children under 6 cannot travel alone.

Discover more on our Kids GO Free page.

Co-Fare Discount with Local Transit

GO Transit customers can enjoy co-fare discounts with many local transit agencies. Find out which transit agencies our GO trains and buses connect with and how much it costs to transfer.

PRESTO automatically calculates your co-fare discount and applies it to your PRESTO account or credit card when you connect to or from GO and your local transit service.

* Fares and discount are estimated and subject to change.
++ Discount is based on direct routes with no transfers, off a single adult GO fare.
** Actual discount may be .1% lower due to rounding.

PRESTO Perk Discounts

You can go to the ROM, the Toronto Zoo and more great attractions, then save on admissions when you show your PRESTO card or redeem a promo code online for some PRESTO Perks partners. Find out how you can show your PRESTO card to get discounts at some of Ontario’s top attractions.

GO Affordability Pilot

As another way of creating transit that is more accessible, we launched a pilot program to benefit riders who are enrolled in Peel Region’s Affordable Transit Program. We will reimburse 50% of the GO Transit adult fare for those customers.

How it works:

  • If you’re a resident of Peel Region and are enrolled in the Affordable Transit Program with Brampton Transit or MiWay, you will be reimbursed for 50% of your PRESTO adult fare when you travel on GO Transit using your PRESTO card.
  • You do not need to connect between GO Transit and Brampton Transit or MiWay to qualify for the reimbursement. It will apply to ANY trip that you take using GO Transit.
  • To receive the reimbursement, simply tap on a PRESTO device within 30 days of travelling on GO Transit. After you tap on the PRESTO device, you will see your reimbursed fare on your PRESTO account within seven days.

About The Peel Affordable Transit Program:

  • The Peel Affordable Transit Program is a partnership between the Region of Peel, the City of Brampton, and the City of Mississauga’s transit authorities. The program subsidizes 50% of the cost of a monthly PRESTO pass on local transit for low-income individuals in Brampton or Mississauga.
  • You can learn more about eligibility for the program and how to apply for a discounted pass for Brampton Transit or MiWay on the Peel Region website.

Our Pilot:

At GO Transit, we care about creating equitable access to communities. Through the GO Affordability Pilot, we will increase access to jobs, educational opportunities, and leisure activities for riders who need it most - within and beyond their municipalities.

We will expand the pilot to other transit systems in a phased approach with the aim of helping everyone get where they need to go.
