GO Transit is the regional public transit service for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Areas. The service is a division of Metrolinx, an agency of the Government of Ontario, created to improve the coordination and integration of all modes of transportation. Over 70 million passengers a year take GO Transit.
On May 14, 2009, GO Transit officially merged with Metrolinx, combining the operations and expertise of both organizations. As a result, transit projects are built faster, helping to improve service to customers.
