Use a GO Weekend Pass for easy and affordable travel to Mississauga and then enjoy free travel to the festival pavilions on the Carassauga shuttles or MiWay.
GO Weekend Day Passes are just $10 for unlimited travel on Saturday or Sunday, or just $15 for unlimited travel all weekend long. And, remember — kids 12 and under ride free on GO. Talk about a family vacation on a budget!
What Is Carassauga?
Carassauga is a festival that showcases the multiculturalism of Mississauga and allows you to become immersed in a different culture at each of the 25 festival pavilions. The opening ceremonies take place on Friday, May 26 from 7:30 pm - 10 pm, and the pavilions will be open to explore on Saturday, May 27 from 12 pm - midnight and Sunday, May 28 from 12 pm - 7 pm.
If you only have time to visit the festival pavilions on one day, a $10 Weekend Day Pass is the perfect affordable option for you. Choose Saturday or Sunday!
If you’re excited to be a “world traveler” and immerse yourself in as many cultures as possible, then a $15 Weekend Pass is the right choice for you. Ride any GO bus or train for the entire weekend and make the most of your Carassauga Passport!
How Much Does It Cost To Go to Carassauga?
A Carassauga Festival Passport is $15 and includes unlimited visits to all the cultural pavilions throughout the weekend, as well as free travel on MiWay all weekend.
Kids 12 and under are FREE when accompanied by an adult passport holder.
How Do You Get to Carassauga with GO?
Use your GO Weekend Pass to take the Lakeshore West line or the Milton line to any GO station in Mississauga, or the GO bus to Square One GO. See below for more details.
From there, you can travel FREE on MiWay or the Carassauga shuttle buses to any of the pavilions and back to your GO station at the end of the day. Remember, your GO Weekend Pass includes your GO travel for the whole day or weekend!
- Paramount Fine Foods Centre & Sportsplex - From the Union Station Bus Terminal, take route 21P to Square One GO Station and take the Carassauga shuttle - Route A.
- Frank McKechnie Community Centre - From the Union Station Bus Terminal, take the Route 21P GO bus to Erindale GO Station, and then connect to MiWay.
- Canadian Coptic Centre - From the Union Station Bus Terminal, take the Route 21P GO bus to Erindale GO Station, and then connect to MiWay.
- Portuguese Cultural Centre of Mississauga - From the Union Station Bus Terminal, take the Route 21P GO bus to Streetsville GO Station, and then connect to MiWay.
- St. Sava Serbian Centre - Take the Lakeshore West GO train line to Long Branch GO Station, and then connect to MiWay.
What Can You Do at Carassauga?
There are so many things to do at the Carassauga Festival of Cultures!
If you love trying new foods — or enjoying old favourites — you’ll want to plan to bring your appetite! You’ll find authentic cuisine to savour at each of the cultural pavilions.
You’ll also find plenty of entertainment waiting for you at Carassauga. Music and dance performances, as well as martial arts demonstrations, baking presentations, and interactive exhibits — there’s something for everyone! Check out the full entertainment schedule to plan your day.
Is Carassauga Family-Friendly?
It sure is! If you’re looking for things to do as a family, Carassauga has fun for all ages.
Be sure to stop by the Kids Zone at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre - South Parking Lot. There will be midway rides (for an additional cost), as well as plenty of activities designed just for younger visitors, including arts & crafts, games, and face painting. Kids can meet the Carassauga mascots and check out a fire truck, and families can learn about programs offered in Mississauga.
At each of the other pavilions, look for the cultural kids zone to find special activities for kids to learn about the diversity of Mississauga.
Kids 12 and under can attend Carassauga for FREE with a paying adult, and they travel free on GO Transit, so it’s perfect for an affordable family outing!
