Celebrate Holi: The Festival of Colours with GO Transit!

Published: Feb 5, 2026

GO Transit has plenty of train and bus services you can use as you explore activities across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area!

Holi welcomes spring in the most vibrant way. It also brings loved ones together in a riot of colours. A dash of gulaal —the shade of vermillion synonymous with Holi—across someone’s cheek can rekindle a connection or make a new one. Chances are you’ll make more than one new friend during the celebrations. And the other thing that makes Holi special is that it is a democratic festival. Anyone is fair game when it comes to being doused in colour. It is not unusual to be casually smeared with colour powder even in a corporate setting.

Typically, revelers dress in all-white—almost resembling a blank canvas—to welcome all colours. If you step out in the middle of the day during Holi, you will most likely see people from all walks of life looking like a busy painter’s palette! Of course, no festival is celebrated without sweets or savouries. Gujiya, Pakora and Dahi Vada are some of the snacks that encompass many flavours, in keeping with the spirit of the festival. Drinks like Thandai and Lassi help one cool down after the festivities.

After the play with colours has come to an end, it is common practice to change into new clothes and visit loved ones in the evening.

This Holi make your plans to visit loved ones perfect with GO Transit. Learn about our different GO Transit fares and take advantage of the biggest savings. Don’t forget, kids 12 and under always ride free on all GO Trains and Buses!
