Starting Jan. 19, phase two of construction will begin inside the station building at Richmond Hill GO. This phase of construction is to upgrade the washrooms and doorways to meet new accessibility standards.
When the washroom and doorway upgrades are complete, three phases of construction will follow;
Phase three: Platform improvements, including the installation of tactile surfaces and a new accessible ramp.
Phase four: Reconfiguration of the passenger pick-up and drop-off area.
Phase five: Installation of new traffic lights on Newkirk Road and new bike lane connecting the main and east parking lots.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Temporary washrooms will be provided during phase two of construction.
- Access to the station building, train platform, and fare devices will be maintained during all phases of construction.
- 10 parking spaces in the southeast corner of the main parking lot will be closed for approximately one year, to allow for a construction trailer to be stored onsite.
- Proceed with caution when driving in the main parking lot, watch for pedestrians and uneven surfaces.
- Follow all directional signage and use caution when moving around construction areas.
- All construction is expected to be complete in Oct. 2026.
- This work schedule is subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances and weather conditions.
- Future work schedules and updates will be provided as the work progresses.
