Set a Default Trip to Save Time

If you travel between the same two GO Train stations consistently, you can have a default trip set on your PRESTO card, PRESTO in Google Wallet, and now with PRESTO contactless payment, you can set a default trip on a credit card or physical debit card. A default trip means you only tap on a PRESTO device at the beginning of your train trip and you don’t need to tap off at the end of your train trip. Default trips are only for GO Train trips, not for GO Bus trips.

Please note that setting a default trip is not available if you tap to pay with a debit card in your mobile wallet. If you tap on with debit card in a mobile wallet on your phone or watch, you will have to tap off with the same mobile wallet you used at the start of your trip.

How You Set a Default Trip Depends on What Type of Card You Use to Tap On a PRESTO Device

  • On your PRESTO card or PRESTO in Google Wallet, set a default trip by using the PRESTO App, or in-person, visit a GO station ambassador at any staffed station.
  • On your credit or physical debit card, set a default trip by using the PRESTO App or the PRESTO website. To set a default trip, you will need to have a recent transaction visible when you Sign In to the app or website. You can create a PRESTO Account for easy access to 180 days of your transaction history or sign in without an account using your credit or debit card details to see 7 days of transaction history.

Setting a Default Trip on the PRESTO App

It’s easy and convenient to set your default trip right on the PRESTO App on a smartphone*.

*NFC enabled smartphones are required for a PRESTO card.

There’s no longer a need to visit customer service counters in-person or speak with a customer service agent.

To set up a default trip on your physical PRESTO card, PRESTO in Google Wallet or your credit or physical debit card, you’ll need to:

  1. Open the PRESTO App
  2. Go to the “settings” menu (the cog wheel icon)

  4. Click on ‘GO TRAIN STATION 1’, and select the GO Station (that you will be departing from) and then click on ‘GO TRAIN STATION 2’ (the destination GO Station)
  5. Click the ‘Set default trip’ button
  6. For PRESTO card only: follow the NFC instructions – placing your PRESTO card on the back of your smartphone.

You can also use the app to change or remove your GO default trip.
